Technical Sales Representative

Department: Sales

Position Summary:

Sell and promote sales of Houghton products and programs to current customers and new prospects in assigned territory to achieve all annual sales and profit goals.  

The candidate must reside in Cleveland, OH. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Achieve annual sales budget, contribution margin budgets and all quarterly objectives for assigned territory.
  • Sell required number of new accounts by promoting and prospecting with assigned territory.
  • Perform all functions of position while maintaining spending within the assigned expense budget.
  • Maintain and/or increase business with current accounts by establishing a call frequency adequate to service these accounts.
  • Develop and maintain a full knowledge and understanding of the competition, their activity, strategies and how it affects the sales force and assigned territory.
  • Communicate territory needs and opportunities to the appropriate managers.
  • Use HELIX selling techniques for every sales and/or service call, demonstrating continuous improvement of these skills over time.
  • Utilize CRM for all encompassing accounts, leads, and opportunities management
  • Complete all required monthly and weekly reports in a timely fashion.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Science or other technically related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years sales experience in related industry required.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
