Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Position Summary:

Responsible for scheduling and directing all assigned company resources to ship, store and receive materials efficiently and effectively to assure demand is satisfied on schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plans and coordinates daily shipments to meet customer expectations working with Production department to assure that product is available when needed for shipment.
  • Organizes daily inventory levels.
  • Assures package integrity including container condition, labeling, stenciling, etc. Reviews all documentation and labeling for correctness prior to shipment
  • Allocates warehouse storage area to insure the most economical use of space.
  • Responsible for raw material FIFO inventory control.
  • Ensures compliance to all D.O.T. regulatory requirements and controls on-site traffic to maximize safety.
  • Coordinates Bulk shipments using assigned carriers.
  • Responsible for the receipt, quarantine and sampling of received raw materials.
  • Cross check all documentation for verification to ensure only minimize potential shipping and receiving errors.
  • Communicates and helps expedite container transfers including totes, drums, pails and others.
  • Effectively manages the return of finished goods (RGA) process.
  • Leadership and management of the team; goal setting, appraisals, training and motivation of employees. Retention of talent.

Education, Experience & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, B.S. /B.A. degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years shipping/receiving experience required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with CDL or Driving Yard Switcher required.
  • Minimum 1 year loading and unloading bulk liquid products preferred.
  • Strong OSHA knowledge relating to bulk tanker transfers.
  • Working knowledge of pump transfer systems.
  • Working knowledge of D.O.T regulations.
  • Ability to direct others
  • Above average verbal communication skills
  • High level of initiative and responsibility
  • Solid decision-making ability
  • Excellent organization skills

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock, slippery surfaces.

The noise level in the environment is usually moderate; occasionally exposed to loud noise levels
